Chateau Cantelys

Description

Château Cantelys is a vineyard located in the heart of the Pessac-L & eacuteogn appellation, in the town of Martillac. Since 1994, it has been the property of Daniel and Florence Cathiard who are also owners of the prestigious Château Smith Haut-Lafitte, listed in the Graves classification of 1959. Cantelys Castle covers a 40-hectare estate in one piece, half of which land is dedicated to vineyards, with 5 hectares for white wines (45% Sauvignon Blanc, 45% Semillon and 10% Sauvignon Gris) and 15 hectares for red wines (45% Merlot, 45% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc). A rosé wine is also produced some years, by bleeding of red wine cuvées.Le terroir is that of the appellation, with serious well drained o & rd; we have been producing wine for centuries. The other 20 hectares of the domain are not classified in AOC but have the necessary qualities to be, which announces perhaps a future clearing. More broadly, the Cathiards continue the development of the estate and instill a qualitative policy both in the vineyards and during winemaking and aging.
